Cellist Sun Han, a native of South Korea, graduated with top honors from Sunhwa Art school,

and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in music from Seoul National University. 


She went to New York City to study at the Manhattan School of Music with Julia Lichten and Qiang Tu,

who is a New York Philharmonic section cellist. She obtained a Master of Music degree program. 

 

Throughout her studies, Sun Han has received numerous full scholarships and awards including at the Michigan State University, and Vienna music festival, Bowdoin music festival, Meadowmount music festival. 


As a soloist, Sun Han played for Bonnie Hampton, Philip Muller, Jonathan Manson's Master classes,

and performed in a Bach winner competition at Manhattan School of Music. 


She has got the 1st prize in New York international, East Coast international competition in New York. 

Also, She got the 1st prize in Hanmi journal, Brahms Association, Eum Yeon, Chun Chu, Ewha, Music journal, and Youngsan music competition in Korea. 

 

As an orchestra musician, she has served as the principal cellist of the Michigan State University orchestra from 2019 - 2020. She has also played in Ann Arbor Symphony, Alma Symphony, Midland Symphony, Battle Creek Symphony, and KT chamber orchestra, Korea symphony orchestra in South Korea.  


She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree, as a teaching assistant under Suren Bagratuni at Michigan State University.
