Halilu Zhang is a talented and accomplished violinist with a rich background in orchestral performance. Born in China, she has collaborated with some of the nation's most esteemed conductors, such as Muhai Tang, Guoyong Zhang, Xiaoying Zheng, and Zhijun Xu. Her extraordinary skills have led her to perform at prestigious venues, including the National Center for the Performing Arts, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, and Beijing Worker's Stadium.
Halilu's educational journey began at the Mannheim Musik Hochshule in Germany, where she attended a pre-college program. She then returned to China to obtain her Bachelor of Music from the Tianjin Conservatory of Music, during which time she served as the associate concertmaster of the Tianjin Youth Symphony Orchestra. Halilu continued her studies in the United States, earning a Master of Music from California Baptist University, where she held the positions of concertmaster for both the CBU Symphony Orchestra and CBU University Choir and Orchestra. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Music at the University of Oklahoma, serving as the concertmaster of the OU Symphony Orchestra and first violin in the Crouse Graduate Quartet.
Throughout her career, Halilu has held various professional positions, including part-time roles with the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, and substitute positions with the Tianjin Opera House Orchestra. Since 2020, she has also been a Graduate Teaching Assistant and the first violinist in the Graduate Quartet at the University of Oklahoma's School of Music.
Driven by her passion for continuous growth and learning, Halilu has participated in masterclasses with world-class musicians such as Peter Zazofsky, Alexander Kerr, Paul Kantor, Bin Huang, and Nancy Zhou. Her unwavering dedication to her craft has earned her high praise from these distinguished teachers and has solidified her reputation as a highly skilled and versatile musician.
